Robert Herndon, LCSW, LMFT
I am a native of
Memphis, Tennessee, and lived in North Carolina, Texas, and California
before I settled down in San Marcos in 1982. I received my B.A.
degree from Memphis State University and my Master of Science of Social
Work from the University of Texas in Austin.
I hold two licenses,
Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Marriage and Family
Therapist.
I have practiced family therapy in
rural western North Carolina and inpatient psychotherapy at the San Marcos
Treatment Center. I was asked to start and develop the outpatient program for the treatment
center, which was called the Riverwood Professional Center, and served as
its director for five years, supervising all its employees and programs,
before starting my private practice in 1991. While I was the outpatient director,
I
served on the Senior Management Team for the treatment center. Drawing on
the training and experience I received in that position, I have consulted
to a number of local businesses on management and employee issues, and
still enjoy doing that from time to time.
My current practice includes
individual therapy for all ages; couples therapy; family therapy; infant
mental health; and play therapy with children. I am on a large number of
managed care panels and employee assistance program lists, and I assist EAPs in critical incident debriefings.
I am married and have
2 children, 19 and 15 years old. I enjoy reading, family activities,
running, and refereeing youth soccer.
