William P. Howard,
PhD
Dr. Howard received a Bachelor degree from the University of Texas at Austin
with a double major in English and Government. He did his doctoral work at
the California School of Professional Psychology in Los Angeles. After
completing his course work, he stayed in the southern California area for
two internships (University of California at Riverside Counseling Center and
the Veterans Administration Hospital in Sepulveda). He then worked for
several years in a group practice as a psychological assistant (Foothills
Psychological Associates in Upland, California).
Dr. Howard returned to the central Texas area to complete his licensure. He
has worked in this area ever since. He worked for three years as a staff
psychologist with Riverwood Professional Center, an outpatient clinic of the
San Marcos Treatment Center. In December 1991, he and several colleagues
established their private practice as Cedar Creek Associates.
Dr. Howard divides his professional time between consulting with school
systems and private practice. For the past fifteen years, he has been a
consulting psychologist with the Caldwell County Special Education
Cooperative. At Cedar Creek, he has a broad, general private practice. He
sees school-age children, adolescents, and adults. He deals with a broad
range of issues – including behavioral and emotional problems in children
and adolescence, depression and other mood disorders, struggles in dealing
with life difficulties, post-traumatic stress, and marital/couples problems.
In
his private life, Dr. Howard enjoys family activities. He is a sports fan
(but not as much as in his younger days). He is also an avid reader and
movie-goer.
